Siamak Ansari Shahrezaei, MD PD is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and the head of the Macular Service at the Rudolf Foundation Hospital, a Teaching Hospital of the Medical University of Vienna. Dr. Ansari Shahrezaei earned his medical degree from Medical University of Vienna and received the VFWF award from Medical University of Vienna for outstanding doctoral thesis research work in ophthalmology. Upon attending the medical retina service at the Medical University of Vienna as a research fellow, Dr. Ansari Shahrezaei completed his ophthalmology residency at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical University of Vienna. He also completed an advanced observership program in medical retina at the Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.
Dr. Ansari Shahrezaei clinical practice focuses on acute and chronic diseases of the macula including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vascular and inflammatory disease. He is an expert in difficult–to–diagnosis or rare retinal conditions.
Dr. Ansari Shahrezaei is actively involved in pivotal clinical trials of novel treatments for retinal diseases, providing his patients with the opportunity to gain access to new treatments before they will be approved for the general community. He is the author of numerous peer-reviewed articles in top JIF-ranked ophthalmic journals and serves as a scientific reviewer for major ophthalmology journals.
Dr. Ansari Shahrezaei is a member of numerous medical organizations including the Austrian Ophthalmic Society, European Society of Retinology and Viennese Ophthalmological Society.
In addition, Dr. Ansari Shahrezaei has been elected to the Austrian Retinal Diseases Committee and is on the editorial board of Spektrum der Augenheilkunde the official Journal of the Austrian Ophthalmic Society.
