Intravitreal Injections are increasingly important for patients with retinal diseases. Depending on the retinal disease a selected drug is injected directly into the vitreous body of the eye. The drug then diffuses throughout the retina and choroid. In many cases, repeated injections are necessary to achieve the desired effect.
Intravitreal injections including Lucentis, Macugen, Avastin, and Triamcinolone are performed for macular degeneration, diabtic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, and uveitic conditions in an operating room at the retina center vienna.
